LGBTQ Pride Month Message

It is important that we remember June was chosen for LGBTQ Pride Month to commemorate the Stonewall riots, famously started by Marsha P. Johnson who was a trans woman of color, starting on June 28, 1969 and lasting till July in New York City as a response to systemic police brutality and discrimination. People were FED UP with injustice then and today in 2020, we are re-affirming our commitment to those same principles fought for all those years ago; recognizing the dignity in each individual, respecting others’ free will and demanding equality and justice for all.

So for this year’s Pride Month it is important to remember the past and to never let up on the push for justice and recognition. Let us be grateful that the prideful cries for change are raised once more in June and the People’s spirit charged again for truth.
